The ill will between the two started in 2011, when Apple filed Apple first sued Samsung, claiming that the Korea-based company copied much of the technology found on the iPhone in its Galaxy phones.
The case ended late Friday with a $120 million verdict for Apple, but that was far less than the $2.2 billion the Silicon Valley giant had been seeking from Samsung.
That $200 or $300 price tag you pay for high-end smartphones at AT&T, Verizon and Sprint might double or triple in the near future.
A new study also compared the big wireless carriers and found customers are most loyal to AT&T.
In opening statements Tuesday, Samsung lawyers said, “Samsung is not some copyist, some Johnny-come-lately doing knockoffs,” referring to claims by Apple that the Korea-based giant’s phones are nothing but iPhone ripoffs.
A few months after Palms sale to HP comes word that the second version of the Palm Pre is slated for an October release.
The spotlight is firmly planted on the Droid 2, but Verizon Wireless has a couple of other smartphones from Samsung that are waiting in the wings, probably due for a September release.
