GLOBALINX hosted a companywide health and wellness challenge to help address the growing health concerns seen nationwide.
According to a Gallup poll, fewer Americans reported eating healthily in 2013 in comparison with 2012. In most months of 2013, healthy eating was at its lowest since 2008. Gallup said healthy eating typically follows a seasonal pattern, seeing its lowest numbers in the last months of the year.
To combat that, a total of 59 company employees participated in a team-based challenge geared toward improving overall health through weight loss and healthy eating spanning the course of 12 weeks from October through December. As an incentive, a total of $1,000 was awarded to the top three teams with the highest percentage of total weight lost during the 12-week period, as well as the individual with the single highest percentage of weight lost during the competition.
We are always exploring new and fun ways to keep health and wellness at the forefront of our employees minds,” Human Resources Director Denise Mooney said. “Helping our employees stay healthy and get fit is a win/win for everyone.”
