TNCI announced agencies Utilicom Networks LLC, Global Systems Telecom and Sunrise Management Inc. are the winners of its TNCI Tee It Up! Promotion, which ended Nov. 30, 2004. Winners receive trips for two to Hawaii in January 2005 to see the Mercedes- Benz Championship, the first PGA tournament of the year. Prizes include airfare, tournament passes and accommodations at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on the Kapalua property where the tournament is held. TNCI Agent Managers Ted Geary and Jeff Balsewich as well as TNCIms Vice President of Sales Scott Armstrong also have won trips to Hawaii.

ILD Telecommunications recently hosted its first two-day customer conference, “Partners In Profits,” in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The event featured a speech by William ‘Billy’ Payne, known for spearheading Atlanta’s successful bid to host the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. Ernest L. Ellis, president of Telecom Compliance Services, and Ruslan V. Chilov, executive director and telecom specialist at Kaufman Brothers L.P., shared their industry insights. Partners were provided opportunities to golf on the championship course at Sawgrass, to fish aboard a chartered boat, or tour the historic streets of the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine. The next event is planned for fall 2005.
Service provider Optivon has hired Steven W. Safley as its new vice president for agent channel sales. Safley will recruit master and subagents to Optivon’s agent program. The company is looking to agents and resellers to be its primary marketing channels. Safley recently was vice president of sales at Sonexis, where he built a direct and indirect sales organization for the western United States and Canada. Before that, Safley was vice president of solutions marketing at Expanets, where he was responsible for the business development and introduction of IP telephony products and services.
Conferencing company ClearOne Communications Inc., has named Joseph Paul Sorrentino vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. Sorrentino will oversee all sales efforts, including channel sales and relationships. Sorrentino has more than 25 years’ experience in various executive management and sales positions. Most recently, he was vice president of sales for Polycom Inc.
Qwest Communications International Inc. has introduced its remote access product for mobile employees to connect to their corporate VPNs with one click. The product is sold through Qwest’s Business Partner Program. Qwest Remote Access uses a range of connectivity options, including the carrier’s global dial network, high-speed broadband and wireless fidelity technology.
