Peter J. Keane, president and CEO of master agency KeaneTel, has been named an honorary chairman of the National Adoption Centers 2006 Spring Gala, to be held next month in Philadelphia.
Now Keane is asking telecom professionals to consider donating to the National Adoption Centers fund-raising drive, and he hopes to surpass the $425,000 fund-raising target.
Why has KeaneTel teamed with the National Adoption Center? Because Keane, two of his sisters and a brother were adopted. I was one of the fortunate ones, Keane says. My parents were exceptional people. We were blessed with their love, support and values. …Unfortunately, many potential adoptees today dont enjoy these opportunities. They languish in foster care or group homes.
The National Adoption Center sponsors programs including Wednesdays Child, Wendys Wonderful Kids and The Adoption Clubhouse. The April 5 gala event will feature live and silent auctions, and live performances.

Live Like A King
Visiting Mecca certainly will never be the same once the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project (KAEP) is completed. Using Nortel Networks technology, Future Entertainment Works is building one of the worlds largest IP networks for the complex, which consists of six residential and commercial towers, and a fivestar hotel.
The KAEP is located next to the Grand Mosque in the Holy City of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The IP network, which includes 65,000 ports for all manner of devices, will provide visitors with more than 16 IP services such as IPTV, video-on-demand, retail, consumer information and advertising.
The KAEP development started construction in 2003 and is set for completion in 2007.
It is important that the freedom of the Internet be protected against either the encroachment of government or efforts at control by large media conglomerates. The future of our democracy depends on it.
Al Gore, in a speech on Jan. 16 at Constitutional Hall, regarding Bush administration policies on wiretapping, wherein he implored telecommunications companies not to provide the government with access to private information concerning the communications of Americans without a proper warrant.
