CommPartners, Linksys Partner to Sell Hosted Solution Through VARs


CommPartners announced in mid-August that it has formed a strategic partnership with Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems Inc., wherein it will host the Linksys One IP telephony platform to provide hosted IP telephony services to small businesses through Linksys VARs and CommPartners existing channel.

The solution includes Linksys One hardware (services router, IP phones with color displays and analog voice gateway) coupled with CommPartners communications and network services, including local, long-distance and toll-free calling, as well as local number portability, directory listings, security, monitoring, management and QoS.

Richard Platt, vice president and manager of Linksys Small Business Systems Business Unit, says CommPartners IP network and nationwide CLEC status makes it well positioned to deliver the Linksys One solution through the companys certified VAR channel.

While CommPartners already has a hosted IP telephony offer, the Linksys One solution enables the company to more cost-effectively serve smaller businesses. Linksys One addresses a new market segment, says Michael McGhee, vice president of sales and business development for CommPartners. He says the system wont replace the companys BroadSoft platform but will augment it to deliver service to companies averaging eight-to-10 lines.

Whether its premise-based or hosted, VoIP is not the easiest thing to deploy, says CommPartners COO Curt Miller. Linksys has taken its plug-and-play policy and applied it here.

Miller adds that Linksys One can be installed by the average VAR who is not a VoIP expert. Linksys One devices determine the optimal configuration and are functional the minute theyre connected, eliminating the need for skilled IT professionals on staff or on-site. The network-discovery process and automated configuration works for new networks and upgrades.

We think it will be an attractive product for VARs who should realize increased profitability through a recurring revenue stream, and increased sales productivity because Linksys One is designed to be easy to install, maintain and expand, says Dave Clark, CE0 and co-founder of CommPartners.

The system can be set up in as little as an hour, the companies say.

CommPartners Linksys One solutions are scheduled to be available nationally in the fall. Linksys is recruiting VARs to become trained and certified to sell Linksys One solutions on the CommPartners network.
