* A special executive committee of ICG Communications Inc. (www.icgcomm.com)
has appointed Randall E. Curran the company’s new CEO, replacing Carl E.
Vogel, who resigned last week as chairman and CEO.
Curran most recently served as chairman, president and CEO of Thermadyne
Holdings Corp. (www.thermadyne.com),
which is based in St. Louis. He had been with Thermadyne since 1987. Curran
began his career with Arthur Andersen (www.arthurandersen.com).
He also has worked for McGraw Edison Corp., and for Clarke Industries, a
division of Cooper Industries Inc. (www.cooperindustries.com).
* Jill M. Lyon has joined the United Telecom Council (www.utc.org),
a global trade association for utilities, pipelines and other critical
infrastructure companies, as its vice president and general counsel. Lyon will
direct the council’s public and technology policy programs and oversee its
frequency coordination and spectrum services. Lyon had been serving as the
senior vice president for regulatory relations and deputy general counsel for
the American Mobile Telecommunications Association (www.amtausa.org).
* GRIC Communications Inc. (www. gric.com)
has named Bharat Dave its COO. In this newly created position, Dave will
be responsible for sales and marketing, software engineering, business units,
customer support and service, network operations, worldwide operations and
network engineering. Dave brings more than 25 years of technology industry
experience to GRIC.
Most recently, he was president and CEO of Infineon Technologies AG (www.infineon.com).
Prior to Infineon, he spent 10 years at Siemens AG’s (www.
siemens.de) business communications systems unit, including positions as
senior vice president of marketing, development and field support, western
region vice president, and vice president of manufacturing.
