7. Bandwidth Buying Voxbone, Becoming Global CPaaS Player

Bandwidth is shelling out $527 million to buy the enterprise cloud communications provider.

Although Bandwidth already functioned as a CPaaS provider, its acquisition takes it from a US-focused vendor to a global vendor.

Interestingly, Bandwidth announced the acquisition the same day Twilio announced its purchase of Segment.

5. Master Agency TBI Adds Dialpad, CommandLink, 5 More Suppliers

TBI bulked up on its supplier portfolio.

Seven – that’s right, seven – signed agreements with the Chicago-based company. And the new class is diverse, including IoT, voice and networking.

4. AT&T Discontinues DSL Service, Gets Lambasted by CWA, Others

AT&T reportedly will no longer accept new DSL orders. But the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union warn that there will be dire consequences.

The CWA and various advocacy groups said up to 160,000 DSL customers could lose their service. However, an AT&T spokesperson said existing customers can keep their DSL.

3. RingCentral Global Office, Lumen’s Cisco HCS Expand Globally

Two vendors expanded their solutions internationally.

In the case of RingCentral, the UCaaS provider extended its Global Office unified communications solution into new continents, as well as multiple countries. Lumen Technologies, on the other hand, brought its Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution into the Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions.

2. T-Mobile Tops Rivals Again in Wireless Customer Satisfaction

J.D. Power unveiled its latest assessment of business wireless satisfaction, and the results came as a surprise.

The carriers improved their satisfaction rankings across the board in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. J.D. Power did, however, offer an explanation for the uptick.

What’s not surprising is T-Mobile’s continued dominance in all three wireless categories.

As one might expect, UCaaS featured prominently in our latest roundup of new offerings.

We also saw a couple of post-acquisition moves, including NetFortris unveiling an offering that utilizes previously acquired Fonality’s solution. And Zoom teamed up with a prominent service provider.
