Rapid7 Buying Cloud Security and Compliance Firm DivvyCloud

Merger

Rapid7 is shelling out $145 million in cash and stock to acquire DivvyCloud, a provider of automated cloud security and compliance.

With DivvyCloud, Rapid7 will extend the cloud security capabilities of its Insight platform. The acquisition is expected to close this quarter. This is Rapid7’s biggest acquisition to date.

DivvyCloud will allow Rapid7 customers to move out of data centers and into the cloud. It also will give them a deeper view into their cloud security, the companies said.

“Security teams are constantly challenged with understanding and effectively managing the risk and security for cloud environments at DevOps speeds.” So said Lee Weiner, Rapid7‘s chief innovation officer.

“DivvyCloud’s technology, team and market leadership in the cloud security space will enable Rapid7 to better serve its customers’ needs by helping them innovate more securely, and provide a robust set of compliance and remediation paths for those with modern cloud infrastructure,” Weiner added.

DivvyCloud allows visibility, combined with automated prevention and real-time remediation of risk, to deliver cloud security and compliance. It supports AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba Cloud and Kubernetes.

DivvyCloud protects cloud and container environments from misconfiguration, policy violations, external and internal threats, and identity and access management challenges.

“Joining forces with Rapid7 is a natural next step,” said Brian Johnson, DivvyCloud’s CEO and co-founder. “Their commitment to customers, employees and company culture is well-aligned with the values that have made DivvyCloud so successful.”

The combined company will better help enterprises innovate using cloud and containers without the loss of control, he said.

Earlier this month, Rapid7 announced network traffic analysis (NTA) is available in InsightDR, its security information and event management (SEIM) solution. Rapid7 will introduce more capabilities with the technology gained from its acquisition of Netfort in 2019.
