Hosted PBX and cloud telephony services should be healthy markets for partners in the coming years.

The global hosted PBX market is expected to more than double by 2023, growing from more than $4.7 billion this year to $9.5 billion, according to a new report by MarketsandMarkets, which expects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15 percent.

Factors driving growth include an increasing need for enterprise mobility, and rising adoption of the cloud and UC. Also driving growth are the increasing necessity to upgrade from traditional PBX to cloud-based PBX, as well as low capex and total cost of ownership.

The protocol management services sector is expected to grow at the highest CAGR through 2023. These services allow the secure management of protocols involved in hosted PBX or IP telephony systems to provide reliable IP communication.

The virtual deployment and setup segment is expected to hold the largest market size. This service deploys hosted PBX-based IP telephony via the internet, and the PBX software is hosted and managed by third-party service providers or cloud providers. This service helps enterprises in the deployment and setup of complete hosted PBX and IP telephony systems cost-effectively.

Among regions, North America is projected to hold the largest share and continue to dominate the market.
