HIMSS CONFERENCE — Samsung Electronics America and MobileHelp Healthcare‘s new remote patient monitoring (RPM) offering with integrated emergency-response capabilities is among numerous innovations announced during this week’s Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s (HIMSS) Health IT Conference in Las Vegas.
The event, which concludes Friday, has brought together more than 40,000 health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and IT health vendors from around the world. A connected health experience, a cybersecurity command center and federal IT solutions pavilion are among the highlights.
Built on the Samsung Tab A and supported by Samsung Knox defense-grade security, MobileHelp Touch blends the safety of a traditional emergency response system with the added personal and professional health-care benefits of RPM technology and video conferencing. MobileHelp Touch gives health-care providers the ability to provide patients with traditional RPM for their entire episode of care.
Also during the conference, Samsung and Philips announced plans for a strategic partnership to connect Samsung’s Artik Smart Internet of Things (IoT) Platform to the Philips HealthSuite Digital Platform. This collaboration will allow the Samsung Artik ecosystem of connected devices to access and share information with Philips’ cloud platform.
Health-care application developers will be able to take advantage of interoperable connected health offerings using integrated data sets and HealthSuite services such as advanced health analytics, the companies said.
“This is an incredibly exciting time in health care, as the industry begins to harness the power of data to bring better care to consumers,” said James Stansberry, senior vice president and general manager of Samsung’s Artik IoT. “Samsung Artik-enabled devices and cloud services integrated with Philips HealthSuite can address the growing need for connected health platforms that can safely access, share and analyze information, helping health systems and providers achieve their goal of delivering better care to consumers, from prevention and detection to diagnosis and treatment.”
