Verizon has a new opportunity for its channel partners who sell to federal government clients. The carrier has made available its software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) to these customers.
The carrier says its SD-WAN for Government is designed specifically for agencies that dynamically manage changes in internet traffic caused by the rapidly increasing demand for cloud technologies and mobile services. This gives federal customers more choice in maintaining speed and efficiency as they modernize their IT systems. It all comes without sacrificing security or data privacy, Verizon added.
Verizon’s SD-WAN for Government is designed to be highly compliant with the Federal Information Security Management Act, which codifies the Department of Homeland Security’s role in administering the implementation of information security policies for federal executive-branch civilian agencies.
SD-WAN for Government’s key features include application-aware routing with centralized management and analytic monitoring; integrated network visibility and control; network flexibility and cost controls with centralized policy management; and real-time network performance awareness to maintain the end-user experience.
“Our goal is to help the U.S. federal government improve overall application performance and security to support new and evolving constituency demands,” said Steve Lefrancois, Verizon’s public sector chief technology officer. “Federal agencies are experiencing significant growth in network traffic, and Verizon’s SD-WAN improves network agility and visibility, so agencies can more effectively support their mission-critical goals.”
Verizon says this new solution will be supported by the company’s federal group, which consists of experts with extensive experience helping federal agencies protect customer networks.
The carrier has made an effort over the past year or two through its channel program to give partners incentives to sell SD-WAN services.
