Avaya Debuts Cloud Conferencing, Collaboration Service

Avaya on Thursday unveiled a new cloud-based video conferencing and collaboration service available exclusively through its channel partners.

Hosted and operated by Avaya, channel partners in nearly 30 countries can offer Equinox Meetings Online to their customers for audio, video, data and content sharing, with more countries being added over time. The subscription-based service provides customers with unlimited use of virtual meeting rooms that support up to 50 participants.

Mike Kuch, Avaya’s senior director of solutions marketing, tells Channel Partners that Equinox Meetings Online has a lot of upside for partners and little to no risk.

“Demand will increase for the next several years,” he said. “Interoperability across devices and systems means easy integration with a customer’s existing technology. Finally, as an Avaya hosted and operated, cloud-based solution, they don’t need to build out data centers and maintain the technology – we do that for them.”

Meetings can incorporate a variety of vendor room systems, including Avaya Scopia, Cisco, Polycom and Lifesize, “going far beyond the basic connectivity typically provided by competing cloud offers,” Avaya said. The service allows full conference control and moderation, as well as content sharing, including the ability to receive text chat on room systems, it said.

With Equinox Meetings Online, Avaya channel partners maintain the customer relationship while benefiting from the growing demand for cloud-based services, the company said. Channel partners must be Avaya Video Authorized Resellers and offer demonstrations.
