The program’s focus is to simplify data-center operations and reduce costs, according to Cloudian. Charter-program members address various data use cases including: data protection; data life-cycle management; media active archiving; and file sync and share.
Jon Toor, Cloudian’s chief marketing officer, tells Channel Partners the program takes the time and risk out of consolidating unstructured data.
“In a recent Gartner survey, IT managers identified capacity management as a major problem, but solutions can be elusive,” he said. “This program highlights data-management solutions that are tested, documented and proven in the field.”
Partners want to recommend offerings to their customers, but they have to know what really works, Toor said. This program “overcomes that barrier by identifying specific customer needs and the proven solutions to address them. All solutions in this program are in production with customers today,” he said.
In terms of new opportunities for partners, a good example would be network attached storage (NAS) data life-cycle management, he said.
“For IT managers, proliferating NAS devices are a double headache because they’re expensive and hard to manage,” Toor said. “There’s a ready solution here: Sixty percent of the data on those NAS boxes is rarely touched. But you can’t just delete it. Now, you can move it – transparently – to object storage. That is new. Solutions have been tried before, but this is the first one that really fixes the problem without creating other problems. Resellers are thrilled with this innovation.”
Charter members of the program include Rubrik, Komprise, Evolphin and CTERA Networks.
“Our value-add to the channel is innovation,” Toor said. “Partners have lots of storage options, so we have to bring them better, more innovative solutions. This program takes the risk out of innovation by highlighting the problems we solve and the proven paths to get there.”
