Thycotic Selects Former Unitrends Channel Exec as Sales VP

IT security provider Thycotic on Thursday named 23-year channel veteran Bob Gagnon as its first vice president of channel sales.

Thycotic's Bob GagnonThe company also announced its new Thycotic Rewards Program, in which resellers can register and earn $250 for every deal with a value of at least $5,000.

Before joining Thycotic, Gagnon served as North America vice president of channel sales for Unitrends, where he is credited with increasing reseller deal-registration revenue 500 percent from 2011 to 2014, and implementing an incentive program that included 5,000 active resellers. Previous roles also included vice president of channels for AppAssure, which was acquired by Dell, and vice president of sales for AVG Technologies.

“My top priorities are to invest in Thycotic’s channel coverage, continue to enhance our channel program and marketing, educate the channel about the large opportunity in the privileged account management (PAM) market, which I believe is underserved, and to strive to be the ‘pro’ channel vendor in the PAM cyber security space,” Gagnon said. “Over the past 23 years, I have either been working for, or working with, channel partners. I began my career in sales and product management at PC Connection and Tech Data Corp. where I obtained intimate knowledge working as a reseller, and distributor on the other end of the spectrum.”

Gagnon’s first initiative is launching the rewards program. Thycotic has taken a number of steps so resellers are able to “quickly and easily” maximize their financial rewards, including: protecting margins regardless of how a customer purchases Thycotic’s offerings; registering deals for quick approval on Thycotic’s website; and providing a higher deal-registration discount.

“Our goal is to be top of mind when it comes to a PAM vendor, and to build a partner community and ongoing relationships with individuals, such as sales and technical participants, and not just the partner companies themselves,” Gagnon said. “There currently isn’t a timeline to change or conclude the rewards program. If anything, our focus will be to enhance it as we continue to grow our partner community. In the future, we may offer additional rewards for sales and technical training, prioritized lead pass through, and for closing business. “
