The company on Wednesday announced five new backup products ranging in size from four to eight terabytes, and a new version of Carbonite Server Backup – Carbonite Server Advanced. The enhanced portfolio allows SMBs to maintain operations at near-continuous levels, the company said.
David Raissipour, Carbonite’s senior vice president of engineering and products, tells Channel Partners that partners can offer their clients a “comprehensive, complete backup of their data without adding additional complexity in deployment or managing the solution.”
“The new bare-metal imaging capability also saves the partner time during the restore process,” he said. “And with multiple form factors, including software-only, hybrid (local and cloud) solutions, and all-in-one mini-towers and rack-mounts, partners can create a disaster recovery solution that fits each individual client, all from one vendor.”
Carbonite has more than 7,000 partners, ranging from VARs to MSPs. It also has partnerships with distributors like Tech Data and SYNNEX, and national service providers including CDW, Tiger Direct and PCC.
“Now, our partners can diversify their portfolios and combine their professional services with Carbonite’s … ‘IT-free’ products to get their SMB customers back up and running in a matter of hours, rather than days,” Raissipour said.
The average cost of downtime for an SMB ranges from $8,220 to $25,600 per hour, said Laura DuBois, IDC’s program vice president, storage, eDiscovery and IG.
Carbonite’s partners will be crucial to the success of the new products, Raissipour said.
“Carbonite backup appliances are being sold exclusively through Carbonite channel partners, distributors and national service providers,” he said.
According to Carbonite, it has recovered more than 40 billion files since 2005, including 9 billion in 2014.
