Hewlett-Packard on Monday introduced new programs, products and services for VMware environments, from desktop to data center.
HP can now sell VMware NSX, the network virtualization platform, with the goal of helping customers to deploy applications faster, simplify and automate their data-center network fabric, and improve security.
“Today’s announcements further extend HP’s long-standing relationship with VMware to simplify the implementation of the software defined data center and cloud environments,” said Antonio Neri, HP Enterprise Group’s executive vice president and general manager, at VMworld in San Francisco. “These products, services, solutions and reference architectures will provide customers with the building blocks to transform to a hybrid infrastructure foundation to efficiently power the apps and workloads that run the business.”
HP also announced an update to the Horizon (v6.1) virtual-desktop platform and NVIDIA GRID to deliver high-density graphics and virtualization options. Powered by HP OneView, the new system gives customers a single management interface.
These end-user computing services can support up to 3,500 users and are tested to run desktop-virtualization applications at optimal performance, helping customers reduce provisioning time, cost, setup and installation errors, according to HP.
In addition, HP is extending the Converged Architecture partner program with the new Converged Architecture 700 (CA700) stack. Built on HP BladeSystem, 3PAR Storage and OneView, and integrated with VMware vSphere and vRealize, the stack offers converged management across compute, storage and fabric.
“HP continues to lead the way in converged systems with our partners,” an HP spokesperson told Channel Partners. “[For our partners], HP has a wide suite of training on both converged infrastructure and hyperconverged infrastructure. This training includes sales training on the market, how to identify and qualify an opportunity as well as detailed technical training on how to build, configure, deploy and operate Converged Architectures.”
The stack can be built and delivered by the customer’s choice of certified channel partners. It enables VMware administrators to manage the entire stack as one.
And finally, HP unveiled new software-defined compute services for VMware offerings, network virtualization services for VMware NSX, and client virtualization services and education services for VMware aimed at helping organizations to better react to changing business dynamics.
“VMware and HP continue to help our mutual customers drive innovation with greater speed and scale,” said Carl Eschenbach, VMware’s president and chief operating officer.
HP Enterprise will become an independent company on Nov. 1. It will include the IT giant’s enterprise hardware, software and services businesses, while HP Inc. will include its PC and printing businesses.
