PRESS RELEASE — Greenville, SC – August 24, 2015 – Green Cloud Technologies, a channel-only provider of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and disaster recovery as a service (DRaas), announced today it is adding desktop as a service (DaaS) to its portfolio of solutions. This solution will enable organizations to provide a secure and mobile alternative to the traditional desktop.
DaaS is a remote hosted virtual environment, essentially a Windows-styled desktop that can be accessed from traditional desktops and thin clients as well as mobile devices like tablets and smartphones. The user interface is the consistent through each device and data is stored in a virtual cloud environment rather than locally.
“In an increasingly mobile world, businesses are continually looking for new ways to manage the bring your own device (BYOD) movement while facing a growing number of data security concerns and threats,” said Green Cloud Technologies CEO, Shay Houser. “DaaS can really help these organizations with mobility and enhanced security.”
With DaaS, applications reside in the cloud, and not on end user devices that are easy targets because of weaker security tools and lenient security practices from end user’s themselves. And, because every user’s environment is virtual, desktop images are automatically synced and always available.
Green Cloud began provisioning DaaS solutions in July.
