The latest unified-communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) forecast gives resellers and key vendors reasons to be optimistic.
Researcher Markets and Markets predicts the cloud UC market to grow from a little more than $15.1 billion this year to nearly $24.9 billion in 2020, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.5 percent.
Once relegated to large enterprises, small and medium-size businesses (SMB) will help drive cloud UC in the years to come, Markets and Markets says, because these companies are facing critical challenges in improving customer satisfaction and making employees more productive, while keeping costs low. Vendors are more often coming out with low-cost services that meet these demands, enabling access from remote locations while offering a secure, collaborative platform.
Among those vendors making key contributions in the cloud UC space for SMBs are Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Avaya and HP, the report says.
SMBs say the UCaaS features attracting them most are robust phone systems; full network security; secure Wi-Fi access from anywhere; reliable network infrastructure; and tight integration with desktop applications.
