IBM Cloud infrastructure is now available on the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace, creating new opportunities for channel partners to provide the platform to their customers.

Ingram Micro now offers IBM Cloud infrastructure in the United States through SoftLayer, an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider. The tech distributor plans to expand the offering to additional cloud markets worldwide, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Mexico, Netherlands and the U.K.

Global market intelligence firm IDC expects 36 percent growth in the IaaS market in 2015.

Through the Cloud Marketplace, channel partners can configure and manage SoftLayer along with other cloud offerings through a single console. SoftLayer’s platform currently includes data centers throughout the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, and encompasses a range of cloud-computing options that are connected to an integrated private network and management system.

“With SoftLayer in the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace, it is easier and faster for organizations to adopt in-country compliant cloud services that drive business innovation and transformation,” said Nimesh Dave, Ingram Micro’s executive vice president of global cloud. “We’re committed to developing additional services for workload migration, capitalizing on our professional services capabilities.”

The new offering taps into IBM’s in-country compliance efforts, which help public and private sector clients in regulated industries – health care, government, financial and legal organizations – improve access to their online information and services, according to Ingram Micro. Its channel partners now can provide their regional customers with a platform for placing sensitive and demanding workloads in the cloud, it said.

The Cloud Marketplace is an ecosystem of buyers, sellers and offerings that enables channel partners to configure, provision and manage cloud technologies. It provides management of the end-customer cloud subscription lifecycle from a single, automated platform, offering infrastructure, security, communication and collaboration, business applications and platform, and cloud management services.
