Hewlett-Packard’s channel chief, Sue Barsamian, has been selected to lead HP Enterprise’s security software business as it moves closer to becoming an independent company.

HP Enterprise's Sue BarsamianBarsamian has been named senior vice president of enterprise security products for HP Software. She will report to Robert Youngjohns, HP Software’s executive vice president, and will oversee the go-to-market strategy for the unit.

She also will remain in her position as senior vice president of worldwide indirect sales until a replacement is found.

“My objective is to leverage the impressive security assets within the ESP business unit and drive greater customer value and growth as part of the new Hewlett Packard Enterprise,” Barsamian told Channel Partners.

HP Enterprise will become an independent company on Nov. 1. It will include the IT giant’s enterprise hardware, software and services businesses, while HP Inc. will include its PC and printing businesses.

“Security is an area of tremendous importance and focus for our company, and is at the heart of one of the four transformation areas for Hewlett Packard Enterprise,” the company said. “Given the significance of this business, it is essential that we have the right leadership in place to fully capitalize on the market opportunities before us and deliver results.”

As channel chief, Barsamian and her team are accountable for worldwide indirect revenue, which represents about 70 percent of the Enterprise Group’s total sales. She previously led the Enterprise Group’s sales and operations with responsibility for all routes to market and the group’s business operations.

Barsamian joined HP through its acquisition of Mercury Interactive in 2006.
