TECH DATA CHANNEL LINK — Tech distribution giant Tech Data on Thursday introduced new services designed to help enhance its partners’ businesses across multiple verticals.
Solution providers in the U.S. and Europe will get access to the Microsoft Surface Hub beginning July 1. Surface Hub allows business teams to collaborate on a big screen. First introduced in January by the Redmond, Washington-based software behemoth, the Surface Hub is a wall- or roller-stand-mounted conferencing and collaboration unit featuring an 84-inch or 55-inch touchscreen, running on the Windows 10 operating system. It’s designed not only to make a more productive work environment, but to bring remote workers into the conversation in a big way.
The Hub can be used for video conferencing and as a whiteboard. It has a 4K HD picture and comes with cameras and microphones that are motion-sensing – resulting in better audio and video transmission, Microsoft says. The smaller screen will set a business back $7,000, while the larger one costs $20,000.
Tech Data says its dedicated Microsoft Surface team will provide customized marketing programs, audio/visual services and enablement platforms for authorized Hub resellers.
Also new from Tech Data are enhanced value-added services and capabilities for resellers of Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS). They include increased systems-engineering support, quicker route-to-market, and pre-integrated and customizable BTO configurations. The distributor says its expanded BTO capabilities allow it to fully integrate complete infrastructure solutions prior to shipping — including rack, stack and cable.
Those announcements followed Wednesday’s global launch of TDCloud powered by StreamOne, its end-to-end provisioning, billing and marketing engine. The Tech Data Cloud Solutions Store, part of TDCloud, will now be available to partners in Canada, France and the U.K. It will be introduced across Europe in phases over the coming weeks.
With more than 500 attendees, the fifth annual Channel Link in Grapevine, Texas, is Tech Data’s largest annual event for solution providers in the U.S.
