Colocation provider ViaWest on Thursday named Bill Cory regional vice president of its Oregon/Pacific Northwest market, charged with expanding the company’s market through enhancing the customer experience, partner strategy, and cloud and managed-services expansion.
Cory has 20 years of experience in telecom, with 15 of those in the Portland area. Most recently, he was sales director for Integra Telecom, based just across the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Cory’s background includes consulting with businesses on improving operations through technology and telecommunications services.
“Oregon continues to be a hotbed for data center growth and development,” said Cory. “I am excited to join the ViaWest team and continue ViaWest’s legacy of providing excellent customer support and robust hybrid solutions. I look forward to building on ViaWest’s position as an IT infrastructure partner to companies, enabling them to focus on accelerating their businesses.”
Cory has his hands full right out of the gate. He is overseeing the launch of Integra’s Brookwood Data Center, scheduled for July.
“Oregon is a key data-center market due to its low power costs and one of the lowest business tax rates in the country,” said Nancy Phillips, president and CEO of ViaWest. “We are excited to bring Bill on board to continue our strong growth trajectory in the region, and the continuation of ViaWest’s position as one of the premier data center service providers in the state.”
Canada’s Shaw Communications bought Denver-based ViaWest last year from a private equity firm for $1.2 billion. In a video interview at the Spring 2015 Channel Partners Conference & Expo, ViaWest’s director of channel sales told us that the deal is opening up more access to partners.
