Citrix on Tuesday unveiled how it is “changing the IT paradigm” with a new “build once, deploy anything” infrastructure that simplifies management and provides device-independent endpoints.

At this week’s Citrix Synergy in Orlando, Florida, Citrix is demonstrating its new Workspace Cloud platform, its XenMobile enterprise mobility management service, and other new offerings.

From a partner perspective, the new infrastructure gives them the ability to provide a new level of value-added services and deployment of new workplace technology, said Ken Oestreich, senior director of product marketing.

Workspace Cloud gives customers the ability to first choose which clouds or data-center resources best fit their needs, and then select the applications, data, files and features that work best for each organization and each person. Partners can add value by designing customized, personal workspaces geared toward their customers’ business requirements.

Workspace Cloud provides a “platform for the vision of a workplace and our partners build on top of it,” Oestreich told Channel Partners.

When it comes to end-user computing, enterprise IT is “at a crossroads with multiple challenges around device management complexity, data and application security, and requirements to deliver consumer-like, consistent experiences across any device,” said Scott Ottaway, vice president of research at 451 Research. “And IT leaders have more pressure than ever to achieve rapid time to market with new IT services, especially new mobile applications,” he said. “Citrix Workspace Cloud addresses these concerns for existing and new mobile-first applications.”

With XenMobile, organizations don’t need to piece together services from multiple vendors to achieve business mobility. It provides comprehensive and flexible management of applications, data and devices with a broad set of business optimized mobile applications, Citrix said.

The new Citrix 2020 Technology Landscape report notes how the workplace is undergoing another major shift from one that is physical to one that is software-defined, where employees have the flexibility to work on any device with anyone, anywhere and anytime.

XenMobile integrates with other partner and Citrix technologies, including Workspace Cloud and the new Citrix Receiver, which supports the Citrix mouse on iPads and iPhones.

“The reality is that the ever-changing consumer marketplace has come to define the technologies that people want to use at work, and rightfully so since they offer significant enhancements to productivity and efficiency,” said Mark Templeton, Citrix’s president and CEO. “We wanted to find a way to help businesses feed the wave of innovation versus having to react to it.”
