ScanSource Debuts Cloud Channel Program

Technology products distributor ScanSource has announced a new cloud channel program.

With ScanSource Cloud Services, resellers can access cloud applications, services and support from one source, the company said. They can get products from multiple vendors, cloud product support, education and training opportunities, as well as marketing services to help them promote their portfolios.

Mike Burns, ScanSource Services Group president, tells Channel Partners the goal of ScanSource Cloud Services is to give resellers the tools, training and options they need to “help them win the deal.”

“It’s available now, resellers are engaged with us today,” he said.

The company plans to develop more cloud solutions this year and “we’re hoping to add more and more partners throughout the year,” Burns added.

The program includes cloud offerings from ScanSource’s hardware partners, as well as complementary, cloud-only vendors.

Its cloud service partners include AGT, AppCard, Green Cloud Technologies, Intermedia, PGi and RingCentral. Services include disaster recovery and hosted backup; e-loyalty and analytics; hosted video bridging and Web collaboration; and infrastructure as a service.

“Each one of those (cloud partners) has their specific cloud solution … each one of them has their own specialty,” Burns said.

For example, Green Cloud Technologies offers disaster recovery and virtual server platforms, while Intermedia offers cloud IT services and business applications.

“Our goals are more focused on how can we help our resellers to be ready when they’re out talking to our customers,” Burns said. “All of our existing resellers today have this need and it’s across all of our business.”

Based in Greenville, South Carolina, ScanSource serves as a distributor to more than 300 vendors and sells to about 35,000 reseller customers. Fiscal year 2014 net sales totaled $2.9 billion.
