SimpleWAN Aims to Tighten Information Security in 2015

CHANNEL PARTNERS — SimpleWAN (Booth 767) considers 2015 the year when information security changes forever, particularly with the recent release of PCI 3.0.

Recall that 2014 essentially amounted to the year of the security breach. SimpleWAN aims to change that with its hosted firewall service that provides real-time intrusion defense as well as cloud management, vMPLS, HIPAA & PCI compliance tools.

“Compliance will be a major theme in 2015,” said Erik Knight, CEO and president SimpleWan. “The latest version of the security standard includes new provisions – like banning the processing of credit cards over wireless – that will make compliance significantly more difficult this year.”

SimpleWAN this week is touting its ability to help MSPs and other channel partners offer firewalls as an add-on service for easy management and monitoring. For example, its smart routing technology uses multiple private backbone connections to provide the shortest distance routing between endpoints. Thus, SimpleWan channel partners may work with customers to help them select the best routes/connections based on cost. Plus, many of the automated tools automatically manage and provide QoS.

Other features and technologies include:

  • Carrier-neutral vMPLS
  • 3G/4G network failover with 10 seconds or less response time
  • VoIP prioritization and diagnostic tools
  • Content filtering
  • Cloud firewall/centralized management
  • PCI and HIPPA scanning and compliance

“The average time it takes for an organization to realize it’s been breached is six months and the intrusion can do tremendous damage during the time it goes unnoticed,” Knight said. “In other words, by the time companies recognize that they might have a problem it’s likely too late already. Instead, these businesses should consider regular audits from security experts.”
