Solution providers now may create AT&T bundles and packages for their customers, who range from vertical market users to enterprises and SMBs. Tech Data also said its partners will get greater rewards for their sales, and more resources such as training and education, and more.
The deal comes as more distributors, historically entrenched on the equipment side of the market, branch out to include software and services, propelled by the convergence of IT and telecom. On the flip side, traditional telecom operators have sought to include IT partners in their channel programs because these experts tend to own more of the client spend than do most agents. Both IT and telecom players have learned that they’ve missed out on potential sales over the years by focusing only on IT or telecom.
The Tech Data-AT&T announcement further comes a year after the distributor took its Mobile Solutions unit global. It also makes Tech Data a master solution provider for the AT&T Alliance Channel Program.
