Master agent WTG has named Jeni Weinstein its new director of sales.
Weinstein, who many partners know from her roles as strategic partner manager at Star2Star Communications and channel manager at AT&T’s ACC Business, will provide support to WTG’s community of agent, VAR and provider partners. She also will be responsible for recruiting and developing partners.
While at ACC Business, Weinstein was named a Channel Partners Top 15 Channel Manager three years in a row.
Like many traditional master agents, WTG finds itself delving more into the technology space as the telecom and IT spaces continue to converge. As Channel Partners’ T.C. Doyle wrote last May in an interview with WTG CEO Vince Bradley, the company “has an opportunity to provide more VARs and systems integrators with cloud innovations in a much richer way.”
WTG is putting a lot of its resources into the cloud. The agency is now more than two years into its “Cloudology” initiative, which includes its cloud computing product division and training efforts. The training covers unified communications, network security, managed firewall, Web conferencing, business continuity/disaster recovery, data storage and more.
But saying that cloud can be too vague of a term, WTG labels itself as more of a “connectivity services broker.” That more specific moniker, the company says, helps VARs identify WTG as a technology distributor. It’s also a term with which longtime agents can feel comfortable.
