A new Disaster Recovery as-a-Service (DRaaS) solution from Symantec and HP, based on HP Helion OpenStack, will be available in late 2015 and should help SMB customers to minimize recovery times, data loss and associated downtime costs.
As part of the partnership, Symantec provides the DRaaS software solution, while HP provides the end-to-end service based on the underlying disaster recovery facilities, infrastructure, and operations team. The new solution will run on an HP Helion OpenStack-based cloud environment and will support recovery whether it’s traditional IT on-premises, managed cloud, private cloud or public cloud.
The HP/Symantec solution will leverage HP’s enterprise cloud as the disaster recovery and will allow customers to achieve recovery and meet industry standards for security.
“Partnering Symantec’s … business continuity software with HP’s … enterprise services will create a unique disaster recovery solution that will have a positive impact when any disruptive events occur,” said Doug Matthews, vice president, Information Availability, Symantec. “This collaboration will help our customers to protect their workloads no matter if they run on traditional IT or are hosted within HP Helion OpenStack-based cloud environments.”
The DRaaS solution will support and address industry specific client standards for disaster recovery, such as PCI in the retail industry, HIPAA in the health-care industry, or FedRAMP and FISMA in the U.S. public sector, the companies said.
