IT distributor Synnex is enabling VARs to directly bill, provision, manage and support Microsoft Cloud services, including Office 365 and Windows Intune, the company announced Tuesday at its Varnex 2014 event in Las Vegas.
The new capabilities are a result of Synnex’s participation in the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider Program, which was announced in July at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference. According to the software giant, partners in this program will be able to directly provision customer subscriptions and provide one monthly bill for both partner and Microsoft services. They will also directly manage their customer subscriptions with in-product tools in the Partner Admin Center and own the technical support relationship. Initially available for Office 365 and Windows Intune subscriptions, the program will be expanded to include other Microsoft cloud offers such as Azure, Dynamics CRM Online and more.
“The Cloud Solution Provider Program puts our partners at the center of the customer relationship,” said Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft, in a press statement announcing the Synnex relationship. “Through their participation, cloud distributors have demonstrated dedication to helping the broad channel as well as our mutual customers successfully move to the cloud.”
Rob Moyer, vice president, Microsoft Global Business Unit and Cloud Services for Synnex, told Channel Partners that the direct billing and provisioning capability has been in demand by VARs and represents the next step in the Microsoft cloud partner relationship. He expects Synnex VARs to be eager to be able to deliver Microsoft services as part of a total solution.
Synnex’s participation in the program is complementary to its CloudSolv program, which enables VARs – from cloud-centric and cloud-competent to novice – to build their cloud practices. According to Synnex, CloudSolv has evolved from aggregating cloud services to driving complete solutions. For example, Synnex now provides hybrid solutions that include a mix of on-premises, public cloud and device attach, along with associated cloud services.
