Cloud backup provider Infrascale is offering VMware Backup to MSPs and VARs.
The cost starts at $99 per month, per VMware host, and allows for an unlimited number of VM guests, after purchase of the Infrascale Data Protection Platform. There are no per-socket, per-CPU, restore request or data transfer fees.
The new VMware hypervisor-level backup product extends Infrascale’s Data Protection Platform to protect virtual environments across any OS or device. It includes cloud backup, disaster recovery, file sharing and cloud archiving. As a result, MSPs are able to reduce the cost and complexity of operating multiple technologies from multiple vendors to protect customer data, Infrascale said.
Infrascale VMware Backup installs at the hypervisor level and automatically detects and backs up every virtual machine in the environment. Infrascale then applied its data de-duplication technology to further compress the backup size by as much as 90 percent. The company said its technology then encrypts that data with military-grade security.
Infrascale said its VMware Backup also protects environments not addressed by VMware’s native backup tools, including ESXi free hosts and hosts that use VMware’s Physical Compatibility Mode/Raw Device Mapping.
Customers also may back up data onto on any public cloud of their choice, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, in addition to using Infrascale’s cloud.
