GENBAND is getting into the PaaS business as that sector becomes a growing opportunity – not just for vendors, but for enterprise-centric channel partners as well.
On Tuesday, the hardware and software vendor made the formal debut of Kandy, its communications platform that comes with APIs, a mobile SDK and a range of SaaS capabilities. As a result, organizations including VARs, integrators and MSPs can customize the mobile and Web solutions they build for clients.
GENBAND previewed Kandy earlier this year at its Perspectives 14 event. The company used expertise it obtained from the fring and uReach acquisitions to develop Kandy, as well as its work in WebRTC and cloud. fring gave GENBAND mobile IP video and messaging, while uReach enabled voice, video and unified messaging.
“The Kandy Platform is designed to allow anyone from IT to business owners to embed real-time video, voice, presence and text into their Web and mobile applications,” said Paul Pluschkell, executive vice president of strategy and cloud services for GENBAND. “With just a few clicks, developers can connect customers, employees and even products (IoT) into their existing or new applications.”
The Kandy portal is available for free developer trials at kandy.io. The portal includes a developer area, application showcase, and a community, as well as developer API, SDK and quick-start tools.
