Apple’s iPhone 6 will go into mass production some time this month, according to a variety of reports.

Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd., the largest contract maker of electronics in the world, plans to hire 100,000 workers to accommodate the demand. That’s according to a July 17 article by a state-run news service in China referenced by outlets including Reuters and The Telegraph.

Meanwhile, Pegatron Corp., also a contract manufacturer, is planning to recruit more than 10,000 people to put together the latest iPhone, Taiwan’s Economy Daily News said, although it did not cite sources. According to that media service, production on the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is slated to start this week, while work on the 5.5-inch version will begin during the second week of August.

The iPhone 6 is expected to come in two sizes so fanboys may have big-screen options more akin to Android devices from Samsung, Sony and HTC. The latest device is Apple’s ninth iPhone model.
