Might Apple’s next handset, the iPhone 6, be significantly thinner than its predecessor?
The not-yet-announced device, which most insiders believe will go on sale in late summer or early fall, could be as slim as the most recently released iPod Touch.
A video from Unbox Therapy comparing a purported iPhone 6 case to the latest iPod Touch suggests that the iPhone 6 will be just 6.1 mm thick — the leaked case matches the iPod Touch in thickness and may even have a similar design.
One question that typically arises when talking about a thinner device is battery size. A report last week suggested that the development of a 5.5-inch iPhone (if this at-least-so-far mythical device even exists) has been delayed due to challenges squeezing a big enough battery into such a thin handset.
The video also suggests the new iPhone might be a little more stylish, eschweing the typical square design for one that’s a little more curved.
Apple, per the norm, has been mum on all of the rumors. The most interesting of them speculates that we’ll see two new iPhones go on sale this year: a 4.7-inch handset that would be significantly bigger than the iPhone 5s, and an even larger 5.5-inch phone that would fall into the “phablet” category.
