As if you needed more reason to consider IBM’s cloud computing technology, Big Blue this week unveiled new profitability enhancements, marketing resources and training support designed to help business partners “improve margins, build skills and drive demand” for the company’s SoftLayer cloud hosting and infrastructure platform.
Specifically, IBM has launched programs that will, according to IBM:
“IBM wants partners to deliver more sales and revenue of its SoftLayer products,” blogged Channelnomics CEO and lead analyst Larry Walsh “To simulate adoption and cultivate success, IBM is offering partners greater margin opportunities, marketing support and co-marketing initiatives to generate sales, and expanded technical support to partners on creating cloud services. IBM says partners who take advantage of these initiatives are generating twice the revenue growth of non-engaged partners.”
Partners briefed on the announcement expressed enthusiasm for the initiatives.
“Supporting our partners as they transition from selling traditional on-premise cloud solutions to hybrid and off-premise cloud solutions is a priority for Avnet Technology Solutions,” said Fred Cuen, senior vice president and general manager, IBM Solutions Group, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, in a prepared statement. “With these new enhancements, and with IBM’s plans to expand its global cloud footprint globally, SoftLayer has assembled the right components for a winning partner program and we’re looking forward to leveraging it to grow cloud market share for Avnet and our partner base.”
