T-Mobile’s loss might be AT&T’s gain.
Channel partners, other businesspeople – and even the very small number of general consumers who have stuck with BlackBerry through thick and thin – can take advantage of a new AT&T promotion that’s designed to attract T-Mobile customers who will no longer be able to buy a BlackBerry from the Magenta Network.
For a limited time, qualified customers can get a new BlackBerry phone from AT&T for nothing down and no annual service contract if they sign up for the AT&T Next device-upgrade program, bring their own device, or get a device on a traditional contract, Rimarkable reported. Customers may be able to get a $100 bill credit for each new line of postpaid wireless service added until April 30, the carrier said.
BlackBerry announced earlier this week that it was cutting ties with T-Mobile USA following an unresolved dispute over a T-Mo promotion that launched in February. In an email targeting its own BlackBerry users, America’s fourth-largest wireless operator offered $0 down on an Apple iPhone if they switched devices. BlackBerry said it won’t renew T-Mobile’s license to sell its products when it expires on April 25.
The once-great, Canada-based smartphone maker continues to struggle to compete with rivals Apple, Samsung and others who left it behind a few years ago, particularly in developed markets such as North America and Western Europe.
