Software security giant Symantec has redesigned its partner program as part of its new global channel strategy, which was announced in November. Among the changes introduced this month: new competencies designed to reward and distinguish partners based on their expertise and investment into the Symantec technology platform, and a new deal-registration program and rebate initiative.
Symantec unveiled the new framework on Wednesday, and has published a blog penned by Garrett Jones, vice president of global channel operations, to help partners understand the new changes. It also released a new video on YouTube (below) with useful information.
The new competencies, according to Jones, will help partners highlight their capabilities to customers, which, in theory anyway, should help them close business faster.
Partners will build the capabilities required to sell and implement our solutions, and once partners have obtained the capabilities for a given competency, many of the benefits defined in the program become available,” he says. As partners meet certain performance standards, the benefits increase, and partners will earn very compelling rewards for growing their business and delivering exceptional value to customers. The competencies are the foundation of the program, and they underpin the program design principals of being customer-focused, performance-based and more rewarding for our most committed partners.”
The companys new performance-based benefits, meanwhile, will better align with partners expertise and commitments, according to the company.
We need partners that understand and can solve the needs of an SMB just as much as we need partners with deep relationships in the enterprise space to help with more complex solutions. The new partner program addresses these needs and is designed to reward for growth in areas where partners are most capable,” says Jones.
