Depending on your point of view, Apple has done a decent job of keeping specifications of new hardware on the down low. But this year, perhaps eight months before the anticipated release of the iPhone 6, a brokerage firm claiming to have inside sources has released a lot of details about what we can expect from what will be Apple’s eighth-generation smartphone.

Channel partners and others who rely on the iPhone can expect to once again see two new phones from Apple this fall, South Korea’s KDB Daewoo Securities said, as first reported by One will have a display of 4.7 or 4.8 inches, almost a full inch larger than what the iPhone 5s sports. A second model would reportedly be 5.5 inches, falling into the “phablet” (smartphone-tablet hybrid) category.

The report goes far beyond screen size. It says the phones will have full HD resolution and the larger device will reach into what BGR refers to as “quad HD territory.”

Expect the iPhone 6 to offer a range of models, including those with storage options of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB, the report says. But don’t anticipate a major camera upgrade the device will remain at 8MP. Look for a speedy, 64-bit A8 processor.

What might be most interesting in this report is the operating system. KDB seems to think that Apple will eschew releasing iOS 8 (it would be the first year since the debut of the original iPhone that Apple didn’t update iOS) and have the iPhone 6 run on a version 7.2. That’s about the only item here that seems out of left field.
