Edgewater Networks is expanding its EdgeProtect Enterprise Session Border Controller (ESBC) product family with the EdgeProtect 4550.
EdgeProtect 4550 is designed to enables small and medium business customers to deploy a single appliance for reliable, ubiquitous and secure video conferencing. The new product supports standards-based SIP and H.323 devices and includes support for mobile video clients using SIP/H.460 far-end NAT traversal.
Edgewater says EdgeProtects dynamic and managed security policy provides enterprise-class security in an SMB package and can be deployed as a standalone security device or to augment and enhance existing perimeter security. EdgeProtect provides SIP and H.323 local call control or secure proxy support for external call control elements, and enhanced media handling features include shortest path media routing and media relay when NAT traversal is necessary. EdgeProtect supports WAN or LAN side gatekeeper configurations to ensure interoperability for networks with existing multi-vendor endpoints or gatekeeper environments, providing flexibility to choose from best of breed technology and solutions for videoconferencing. It interoperates seamlessly with Cisco, LifeSize, Polycom, Radvision, Tandberg, Vidyo and others, Edgewater Networks said.
The EdgeProtect 4550 is available immediately in two configurations. Each provides 1 x 10/100 Ethernet WAN and 4 x 10/100 Ethernet LAN interfaces with support for up to five video sessions and up to 100 registered devices. The upgraded configuration will also include provide provisioning, WAN-side registration and traversal calls.
