Does the type of smartphone you own reflect just how smart you are?
That’s what Ladbrokes, a U.K.-based bookmaker set to find out with its Test of Wits, a series of brain teasers that you might find on an IQ test. It begins by asking what kind of smartphone you own. A timer in the corner of the screen reveals how long it takes you to answer the questions.
The "exam" revealed that iPhone users got through it on average, in 1 minute, 34 seconds, while it took BlackBerry users who were the most "slow-witted" an average of 1 minute, 58 seconds. Google Nexus owners finished second-fastest. One Samsung device owner completed the questionnaire the fastest, in only 47 seconds, The Daily Mail reported.
Sample questions included: How many months have 28 days? and How many 9s are there between 1 and 100?
Before BlackBerry owners start to scream at their screens, we should note that the test has many flaws. The main one is that it doesn’t really measure what you know, only how fast you can get through it. You could click the wrong answer first on every question; it lets you move on as soon as you answer it correctly. So the fastest responder could also get them all wrong. A more methodical person could get them all right and take longer to answer.
And anyone who’s taken the most basic philosophy class will tell you there’s no correlation between asking someone what type of phone they have and how they answer a bunch of silly questions. But hey, that doesn’t mean the questionnaire isn’t fun.
