Peak has published two U.S. patents for its Layer 2 networking service, which it says means VARs get access to quicker, easier hybrid cloud migrations.
The channel-only IaaS cloud service provider is touting its newly patented direct-connect topology as one that extends environments at Layer 2 so partners and their customers can use the same firewalls, routers, carriers, circuits and IP addresses already in place. Businesses don’t have to buy more network equipment or invest in WANs, Peak said. All of this is meant to take the complexity out of Layer 3 network migration, cutting conversion time to Layer 3 from months to hours, Peak said.
The amount of time that saves clients who now do not have to worry about doing that themselves or managing their own equipment is tremendous," said Luke Norris, CEO and founder of Peak. "This patent makes our cloud look like its virtually in their rack.”
Peak formerly went by the name PeakColo.
