XO Communications has developed a platform called WorkTime that extends the company’s VoIP, hosted PBX or SIP trunking service to employees’ personal smartphones.
WorkTime brings together business voice, video chat, IM and presence across personal smartphones and PCs. At the same time, WorkTime keeps work and personal identities, applications and information separate and private. Users download WorkTime to their smartphones or PCs, then launch the application to use XO’s services as if they were using their business phones.
XO says the product empowers employees to collaborate and be more productive, since Gartner projects that, by 2017, half of employers will require workers to supply their own devices.
