VMware vCloud Helps Phoenix NAP Customers Take a Hybrid Approach

Data-center services provider Phoenix NAP is now leveraging VMware vCloud Connector Advanced Edition to allow customers to securely connect their VMware environments to Phoenix NAP’s vCloud Powered Virtual Private Data Center (VPDC) and scale up or down according to business requirements.

"Phoenix NAPs vCloud Powered Virtual Private Data Center with vCloud Connector Advanced can provide customers with enhanced data center extensibility, and the ability to sync content catalogs across multiple VMware vCloud environments," said Geoff Waters, senior director, cloud service provider programs, VMware.

VMware says its vCloud Connector provides the dynamic scalability of a hybrid cloud that Phoenix NAP clients can now enjoy. The new functionality means Phoenix NAP VPDC customers can now connect and manage their virtual machines between their premises environment and their secure VPDC resources in the cloud.

New features like content synchronization allow users to synchronize the content of their local cloud catalog with the content in Phoenix NAPs VPDC, ensuring what Phoenix NAP says is a consistent user experience and adherence to corporate IT standards. Data-center extension functionality permits virtual machines in local VPDC environments to connect with each other on the same network subnet with ease.

The latest release of VMware vCloud Connector Advanced edition brings with it an exciting set of features for our customers, allowing them to easily and dynamically create a true Hybrid Cloud,” said William Bell, VP of product development, cloud and enterprise services for Phoenix NAP. At Phoenix NAP we believe that a hybrid cloud strategy gives the mid-market and enterprise company the best chance of success with hosted cloud adoption. Additionally, the new data center extension technologies provide an extremely flexible way for our customers to bring their existing workloads to our environment without significant application changes.”
