CenturyLink Expands Fiber Service into Sin City

CenturyLink will expand its fiber network pilot into Las Vegas, enabling Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). The communications giant will be able to deliver its network pilot to residential and small business customers in select Las Vegas neighborhoods this fall.

“We know our customers will embrace this new technology that will allow them to simultaneously use multiple devices in their homes and businesses without the burden of bandwidth constraints,” said Matt Beal, CenturyLink chief technology officer.

The company’s fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology will allow customers in Sin City to download or upload large multimedia files, gain access to cloud services and applications on demand, and stream high-definition movies simultaneously.

The 1 Gbps service will be made available to select Las Vegas communities this fall and will continue to launch throughout the Las Vegas area in 2014.
