BT Global Services has earned the top spot on Vertical Systems Group’s Mid-2013 Global Provider Ethernet Leaderboard.
Also on the leaderboard were Orange Business (France, No. 2), Colt (U.K., No. 4) and NTT (Japan, No. 6). Three American companies made the list: Verizon (No. 3), AT&T (No. 5) and Level 3 (No. 7). Companies on the leaderboard hold 4 percent or more of retail business Ethernet installations based on billable ports at sites outside of their respective home countries.
“Providers cited Ethernet access for multinational IP VPNs as the top driver for port growth during this research cycle,” said Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group. “BT has taken advantage of this opportunity within its extensive base of global VPNs to attain the top position on our Global Provider Leaderboard.”
Market shares are calculated based on enterprise Ethernet services installations plus input from Vertical’s surveys of Ethernet providers throughout the world.
