Digium Inc. said on Tuesday it has purchased VocalCloud, the company with which it has provisioned its hosted PBX product, Switchvox Cloud, since earlier this year.
The transaction closed on Aug. 30; financial details were not disclosed, as both companies are privately held. VocalCloud now is a wholly owned subsidiary of Digium called Digium Cloud Services.
Digiums acquisition of VocalCloud is part of a focused strategy to position the company within the rapidly growing UC-as-a-Service market,” said Danny Windham, CEO of Digium. Digium Cloud Services provides the necessary foundation and infrastructure to offer new cloud-based products and services for SMBs, as well as users of the Asterisk open-source project. In fact, new developments are already underway.”
Digium said the combined products and services are available for sale through channel partners. Switchvox can be set up as a hosted or on-premises platform.
