Is it just us, or do smartphones keep getting bigger? And for that matter, why?
Another device with a six-inch display appears to be on its way, this time from Nokia. The news comes the same month that AT&T started selling the Samsung Galaxy Mega, which sports a 6.3-inch screen, almost as big as what you’ll find on a small tablet PC.
The Lumia 1520, a new Windows Phone supposedly in the works at Nokia, will have a six-inch 1080p display, a souped-up 20MP PureView camera and a quad-core Snapdragon processor. The first leaked photos of the device, which Windows Phone Central acknowledges can’t be confirmed as legit just yet, have just made their way onto the gadget-focused website.
The 1520, which carries the code name “Bandit,” like other Nokia smartphones, would be aimed at both the business user and the general consumer. Nokia is clearly trying to find a niche among photo and videophiles the 41MP camera on its Lumia 1020 is considered by many to be the best on the market.
Nokia is expected to unleash the 1520 at the end of September, along with its first Windows tablet PC, which, for now, is being called Sirius.
