IBM is changing up its partner training strategy by having select distributors and training experts provision its curricula.
Big Blue has so far named Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, Avnet Technology Solutions, Global Knowledge and LearnQuest as its Global Training Providers. The company said that makes training accessible in nearly triple the number of countries, with more formats that better meet clients’ business goals and that develop skills across a range of disciplines, including mobility, cloud and analytics.
"Until now, our training has been based on an internal model completely run by IBM," Steve Mills, senior vice president of software and systems, wrote in a July 12 blog. "But that model has reached a point where we can no longer deliver everything we need on our own. So over the last year, weve been working on an important initiative to enable our IBM Business Partners to become major participants in the training challenge."
Mills called the effort "an important initiative, one which we did not approach lightly." As such, IBM will continue to provide materials and take part in training, Mills said.
