Polycom Inc. today unveiled the Polycom CX5500 and CX5100 Unified Conference Stations, two HD video collaboration products built just for Microsoft Lync 2013.
The CX5500 delivers video and audio collaboration in a system that can be plugged into a USB port on a laptop, and it doubles as a SIP audio conference phone. The CX5100, meanwhile, provides the same HD panoramic USB video experience for customers who dont require standalone conference phone connectivity. Both systems deliver 1080p active speaker video that tracks the flow of conversations at a 30 frames per second, while offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the room.
The new additions join more than 40 other Polycom products that are certified to work with Microsoft Lync 2010 or 2013.
Finally, Polycom also said on Monday that it has received Lync 2013 qualification for all of its VVX Business Media Phones.
The CX5100 is scheduled to be available worldwide in September. The CX5500 should follow in the fourth quarter. For Lync users, Polycom UC Software v. 5.0 is slated for release as a free upgrade in August for customers on maintenance support of VVX Business Media Phones.
