Citing the need for a strong leader to maintain relationships with distribution partners, Cisco has named Julie Hens as its new vice president of worldwide distribution.
Hens most recently led Cisco’s Americas distribution. She succeeds Scott Brown, who was recently appointed VP of the company’s APJC partner business group.
Hens has been with Cisco for 14 years. Her career with the company started in the service-provider sales organization. She held roles in sales, field operations and sales productivity before joining Americas distribution eight years ago. She was promoted to VP in 2008 and led her team to its first billion-dollar quarter in July 2010.
“Julie is a familiar face to many of our distribution partners and Im confident she will be a fantastic leader in this global role thanks to her depth of experience and strong relationships,” wrote Edison Peres, SVP, worldwide channels, in a blog.
Hens will be responsible for sales leadership of the distribution channel in collaboration with regions and countries, and ensuring supply-chain efficiency and effective inventory management, along with accountability for global governance and compliance, Peres said.
Underscoring the importance of Hens’ new job, Peres says distribution has been one of the fastest growing routes to market for Cisco in the last few years, fueling double-digit growth in the midmarket.
Cisco has begun its search to fill Hens’ previous position.
