Equipment maker ADTRAN Inc. has jumped into the managed services space, the latest hardware company trying to branch out as cloud models start to dominate the enterprise.
ProCloud is the first of ADTRAN’s new services; it’s hosted, managed Wi-Fi built on the company’s Bluesocket vWLAN platform. ProCloud accommodates BYOD and lets customers and guests connect to Wi-Fi networks. For channel partners, this means selling Wi-Fi that comes with around-the-clock monitoring and technical support, including problem resolution, hardware upgrades and moves/adds/changes.
ADTRAN resellers may choose one of two models: ProCloud or ProCloud Private Label. The former provides a complete turnkey service with SLAs, guaranteed hardware-replacement times, monthly management reports and more. The latter lets ADTRAN partners rebrand the service while still using the company’s hosting infrastructure and professional services. That way, partners can add Wi-Fi managed services to their portfolios and add recurring revenue, without hiring and certifying more staff.
And speaking of professional services, ADTRAN also has introduced ProServices, which encompass installation, maintenance and managed networking. The services target end users with few IT staff, and those hampered by geography or technical expertise.
ADTRAN is another gear manufacturer looking to expand its legacy business model to capitalize on the burgeoning cloud market; it’s following in the footsteps of GENBAND.
